About Us
Modern Pediatrics (MP) is half tech startup, half pediatrics practice. We believe the pediatrics experience can be dramatically better for families and we're working hard to deliver on that promise by:
1) Providing all well-child care (including vaccines) in the patient's home, and 2) Making ourselves highly accessible 24/7 through text message and video chat. We also aim to make this service available to the broadest range of families possible, not just the wealthy. To make the economics of this work, we need to be constantly innovating, both from a tech and clinical standpoint.
Our View on NPs We think that NPs are a highly under-utilized (and occasionally under-appreciated) resource in pediatric primary care. Frankly, we think NPs are the perfect primary care provider for families. With that in mind, we aim to build a care team for our patients with NPs at the center, complemented by physician consultation when needed. We think this starts with a culture where NPs function and are treated identically to doctors.
What to Expect
• You are the primary care pediatrician for your patients - This means seeing your patients for well visits (including administering vaccines), sick visits, and virtual care (text messages, phone calls, and video visits). • Providing in-home and virtual care for other providers' patients when needed. • Rotating schedule of teaching three virtual classes per week to expecting parents - If this is new to you, we will support you in developing your public speaking and teaching skills. • Rotating 24/7 call schedule, including use of a pager to receive messages from worried parents - On weekends when you are on call, this includes the occasional in-home sick visit or newborn visit for a baby discharged from the delivery hospital on a Friday. • Practicing evidence-based medicine whenever possible, and staying up to date with current trends and the primary literature.
About You
• Willingness to undergo a rigorous interview process - Simply put, the quality of our providers will determine the success or failure of our organization. We take the process of selecting providers very seriously :)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in pediatric primary care setting.
• Experience and comfort drawing blood samples from children.
• Nice to have: Board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) or willingness to complete necessary training for board certification.
• Willingness to go above and beyond for the needs of our patients/families and the organization as a whole
