Environmental Scientist/Wildlife Biologist
Hamer Environmental L.P., a Washington/Oregon based environmental consulting firm,is looking to hire a full-time Environmental Scientist/Wildlife Biologist to assist our team on a wide variety of projects. This position will provide both office and field-based environmental services to our clients. The selected individual will help manage current multi-disciplinary projects for the company, develop proposals and budgets for potential projects, assist or lead staff in conducting field-based natural resource evaluations, and work closely with peers to provide technical writing for various components of NEPA/SEPA compliance (including Biological/Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements). The ideal candidate will be able to successfully manage multiple tasks and personnel, exhibit excellent scientific writing and research skills, and have experience working as an environmental consultant. This is a full-time mid-level position that will be a mix of office and field work. The location of the position will be in either Portland, Oregon, or Mount Vernon, Washington. This is not a remote position and has a mandatory location requirement.

Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. degree required (M.S. preferred in environmental science, wildlife biology, natural resource management or a closely related field)
- Five or more years of relevant professional experience conducting biological surveys and habitat assessments for various wildlife species (northwest U.S. desired)
- Three to five years working in multiple disciplines, including one or more of the following fields: Avian Ecology and Field Studies, including Marbled Murrelets and/or Northern Spotted Owls; Small Mammal (Bats and/or Red Tree Voles), Amphibian, and/or Terrestrial Mollusk Ecology and Field Studies; Aquatic Ecology and Field Studies; Botanical rare plants, Wetland Ecology and Delineation, Cultural Resources and Section 106 consultation
- At least three years of project management
- Three to five years managing medium to large multidisciplinary projects
- Previous environmental consulting experience desired
- Knowledge of pertinent environmental regulations and a basic understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act
- Positive and energetic attitude, able to work well independently and with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
- Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on and manage multiple tasks/projects with tight deadlines
- Self-motivated; strong initiative
- Resourceful
- Willing to travel
Duties:
- Manage or assist in managing company projects
- Conduct field work in support of company projects
- Assess impacts to resources from federal and state actions
- Prepare federal (National Environmental Policy Act) and state environmental documentation for a wide variety of projects.
- Conduct data analysis and interpret results
- Prepare detailed technical reports
- Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of subordinate employees
- Provide presentations to groups or organizations on project progress
- Serve as the primary contact and representative for Hamer Environmental with clients and contract coordinators
- Strategize about the development of new business and meet with potential clients
