Job Description

Amcor Flexibles is seeking a full-time summer intern that will commence in May or June 2021 and provide the selected student with a challenging project-based work experience and the opportunity to learn about the Amcor Flexibles packaging business. You will receive mentorship from a professional EHS Manager and gain real-world Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) manufacturing experience while having full ownership of tasks and projects.

Hierarchy of Controls Based EHS Systems Analysis
Focus Four OSHA Hazard Site Program Development
Falls: Ladder Inspection Audit Creation
Caught Between: Hoist & Lift Equipment Audit Creation
Struck By: Mobile Equipment Audit Creation
Caught-In or–Between: LOTO Audit Creation
Fire and Machinery Grounding Audit Creation
Process improvement, technical documentation, and safety gap analysis for manufacturing practices.

What you get to do:
Provide support to the development, implementation, and management of safety programs (LOTO, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, Hearing Conservation, etc.) to ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable environmental standards.
Integrate and partner with the EHS team to promote a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention and regulatory compliance
Investigate accidents, prepare and maintain required reports. Identify countermeasure to prevent reoccurrence.
Assure appropriate countermeasures are adequately identified to prevent reoccurrence utilizing a robust incident investigation process including JSA, GEMBA, and 5-Why root cause analysis.
Work with other functional teams such as Finance, Marketing, Sales, IT, and Purchasing. May interface with external customers and suppliers as needed.
Organize and participate in safety committee activities.
Facilitate the integration of safety data entry with newly designed analytical tools such as (SAMS) Safety Analysis Management System.
Work with Site leadership team to ensure all essential EHS operational controls are in place and EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
Review and gain exposure to plant manufacturing processes, including plastic blown film extrusion, printing, laminating, slitting, bag, and pouch converting.

What we want from you:
Actively enrolled in Sophomore year or above in a Bachelor or Graduate-Level Programs in a technical field of study such as Occupational, Environmental & Safety Sciences. Demonstrated Ergonomics coursework a plus.
Previous internship experience preferred.
An engaging commitment to safety and the ability to cultivate that engagement in others.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical skills and interest in continuous improvement.

Familiarity with safe operation practices within a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in modern desktop office software applications.
